Need help in determining what skincare products are best for your skin?

A good starting point when it comes to identifying the right skin care treatment to be used is to determine the type of skin you have. Classification of types range from dry skin to oily skin, with any combination of others in between. Each type may then have a corresponding skin problem to address. It is important to take note of the type of skin you have since skin care products are also designed in relation to the common skin types of consumers.

For people who have dry skin, the most common problems are premature skin aging and appearance of wrinkles. Dry skin results from lack of moisture and is commonly made worse during cold season.
To address this problem you can use moisturizers available in the market. It is better to use those products that are fragrance-free and have less preservatives, this will limit chemicals that might cause irritation. Note that humectants and emollients are contained in moisturizers and these components are responsible for absorbing water to increase the moisture of the skin and replacing lipids. Moisturizers also come in two kinds, those that are oil-based and those that are water-based. People with dry skin should use oil based moisturizers during cold season.
On the other hand, people with oily skin quite often have to worry about pimples, blackheads and blemishes. These issues are brought about by overactive sebaceous glands which may be a consequence of heredity, diet, humidity or cosmetics used. People with this skin type must carefully choose moisturizers with the best choice being those that are oil-free or are not oil-based.
Regular cleansing is necessary to decrease the appearance of greasiness but note that the cleanser used should be alcohol-free and soap-free if possible. It is also better to use lukewarm water and a cleanser with good emulsifiers when cleansing since this combination will help dissolve oil faster.
Oily skin may also benefit from the use of a water based moisturizer. If the skin becomes extra dry due to changes in season or temperature you made need a water based moisturizer with more oil.
Pimples that occur because of oily skin will often times find relief with products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Blemishes (dark spots) that occur as a result of pimples or acne may be helped with light exfoliation and brightening products. Be careful when choosing products for skin exfoliation not to choose products that are too harsh for the skin and cause further complications.
When picking skincare products and/or treatments do not blindly follow what the advertisers, youtubers and IG’s self proclaimed skincare gurus claim will work for you. This might minimally help in solving your problem, if not at all. Unfortunately this might  cause further complications if wrong products/treatments are used. When figuring out your skin solution it is really important to find and establish a relationship with a esthetician, who will determine the type of skin you have and help determine the perfect skincare routine, products, and treatments to get you to your goal.
If you’re tired of being stuck in a skin rut OR just want your best skin, schedule your consultation over the phone and let’s get you started down the path of healthy, happy and glowing skin!
