Three skincare misconceptions you should leave in 2020


  • Contrary to popular belief, Lubriderm is NOT the best cleanser for all skin types:
  • While it may be the holy grail cleanser for some, it’s important to remember that: body, neck, and facial skin all possess different sensitivity levels. The skin surface on these parts of the body can be compared to: construction paper, notebook paper, and tissue paper. When using this analogy; the reasoning behind not using body products on the face becomes scarily apparent. The harsh detergents, and fragrances typically used in commercial body cleansers are not meant to come anywhere close to your facial skin.


  • Beauty Influencers are NOT skincare professionals:
  • Social media has revitalized the beauty community in many ways. For the first time in history, anybody now has the ability to: create, share, and market their own personal beauty brands from the comfort of their own home. However before you run with the hype, be warned. An online presence should not be the only validating factor when searching for skincare tips and remedies.


  • New skincare treatments are NOT a one size fits all:
  • All skincare treatments should be approached with caution. Before jumping on any bandwagons, consult with your skin care professional to ensure that your treatment will be beneficial for your skin type. Dermaplaning, a treatment recently popularized by social media is a great example for this misconception. Even though it is currently hailed as a ‘miracle’ exfoliation treatment, dermaplaning can spell out trouble for those who are prone to ingrown hairs.
